Alfa Romeo's 2600 GT was first introduced to the public at the 1962 Geneva Motor Show and was only available in Australia from 1964 to 1967 making their presence on our roads a very rare sight today.
Conceived with long-distance touring in mind, like the 105 series Alfa's the 2600 GT was hand built and styled by Giorgetto Giugiaro for Bertone and features ample Luggage space, a luxuriously appointed cabin, and a five-speed manual gearbox.

The engine displaces 2584cc and produces 165bhp and it famously served in the Italian Carbinieri's "Squadra Volante" as high-speed "Pantera" police pursuit vehicles.

The Bertone-built body, first penned in 1959 as the 2000 Sprint, marked the first-ever design to meet production from Giorgetto Giugiaro and influenced a generation of European sporting coupés.

Production ran from 1962 to 1966. After a total of 6402 had been made with a total of only 598 RHD built makes it a rare model indeed. Noted Alfa Romeo historian and author Pat Braden wrote about the 2600 Sprint, "A true grand touring car... capable of covering long distances reliably without tiring driver or passenger".

This car was delivered in Sydney by Alec Mildren PTY/ LTD of Pymble on the 1st of December 1966. The car was serviced by them till September 1970, the car then continued to be serviced by Brian Foley of Parramatta till November 1973 at which time it had travelled 31, 191 miles. In November 1976 the owner received a letter from Tony McKone inviting him to join the Alfa Owners Club and that is the last documented history till the car was purchased in 1984 and taken to Brisbane where it was stored for years.

It was the new owners intention to embark on a full restoration which was put on hold, for some 30 years! nearly and was eventually finished in early 2013.

This car is a faithfull restoration, it reflects what would have been delivered in 1966, down to original bolts, colour and trim.

The car is a pleasure to drive, with plenty of go and torque. The original service book describes the car as an Alfa Romeo 2600 GT, the colour is Mink with red leather interior.

It features 4 wheel disc brakes, 5 speed all synchromesh gearbox, 2 speed windscreen wipers, front and rear demister, electric windows, all leather interior, full carpeting and a comprehensive toolbox. The car has the original sale/ log book, owner's manual and original keys.

A wonderful period Alfa...
