Description
This is my beautiful1963 Peugeot BB1 ST moped. It has a full MOT and is registered on a V5 with an age-related plate following a full and complete restoration. It is road tax exempt and simply needs insuring to be road legal. It is probably a French import but there is a NOVA letter from HMRC exempting it from VAT.
It has been completely restored which involved stripping and completely refurbishing all the parts and replacing every single nut, bolt and fixing. It has a new piston, rings and gudgeon pin.
The paint is Ford Olympic Blue Hycote and is an excellent finish. New pedals were bought from France as old ones were bent out of recognition by someone. It also has an original rear lamp from the correct period also bought from France. The fuel filler cap is also a replacement from France as it did not have a filler cap, horn or speedometer/ odometer when it was bought. It still has no speedo, (it never did), just a blanking plate. The horn is a BSA bulb horn (MOT legal for pre-1975).
It has a complete new set of control cables from the original drawings and dimensions.
The East Anglian Cyclemotor club verified the age as 1963 and supplied a dating certificate so that an age-related registration could be issued by the DVLA. This moped has a year’s MOT and is now registered on a V5 with an age-related number. (AFW 532A). The paint is as near as possible to the original Peugeot Blue. There is some very minor rust and pitting on the rear wheel rim but it has cleaned up remarkably well and looks OK. There is some rust on the handlebar brackets as these are difficult to find and therefore had to be cleaned up. The mileage is indeterminate but the engine is in pretty good condition and it starts first time with a kick rather than having to pedal. It comes with a re-print of the original Owner’s Manual AND a Workshop Manual for repairs and re-builds. They are both in French. It also has a reproduction 1963 Tax Disc. As it is a 1963 moped (i. e. nearly 55 years old) it comes with no guarantees or warranties, what you see is what you get. I can supply before and after pictures and photos of any particular part, if you wish. The brakes are good and the lights are also OK. This is a real head turner of a moped and it has been restored to what everyone tells me is a very high standard. You will need basic mechanical skills (or a tame mechanic) to use it. If you don’t have that then please don’t buy it. I would hate to see all my hard work languishing in the back of a shed! This is a relatively rare vehicle in the UK whose value is not necessarily based on any pre-set price. The registration is NOT transferrable so don’t even think about buying this lovely moped to scrap it and put the number on your Chelsea Tractor, you can’t.
Buyer must collect and you will need a small van. Cash only on collection.
