Description
History:
Peugeot's successful 504 series sold more than 3. 7 million units in total. From 1968 to 2005, various body styles were produced for this extremely robust and reliable design, which found its place in the upper mid-range segment. Not only designed by Pininfarina, but also built in Turin, the elegant and comfortable convertible seats four people and promises the same robustness as the saloon and estate car. From 1969 to 1982, just over 8, 000 examples of this now sought-after classic were produced, making the 504 convertible a collectible classic car. This example was delivered on 9 April 1980 to the future Peugeot boss in Switzerland and has remained in the Zurich area to this day. The original service booklet is complete up to 2001. The emissions documents testify to regular maintenance from 1990 to the present day. Between 2015 and 2018, CHF 19, 500 was invested in a partial restoration.
Bodywork and paintwork:
The vehicle was completely repainted 11 years ago. The bodywork is flawless, with exemplary panel gaps. The paintwork still has a remarkably deep shine. Very few spots on the bumpers show signs of wear and tear over the years.
Interior:
The interior was completely refurbished in 2015 with high-quality genuine leather, and the carpeting was also replaced with robust bouclé. The finishing touches are a high-quality MotoLita leather steering wheel and a retro radio with modern technology from Caliber.
Engine and mechanics:
There are no records of engine overhauls, but there is maintenance documentation from 1981 to the present. The exhaust emissions are very good, and a major inspection was carried out in summer 2014.
Chassis:
The chassis and suspension have been tested and are ready for a new MOT test. The steering was overhauled in summer 2025.
Driving experience:
Enjoy driving a convertible to the full – with the whole family or with friends. The comfort and smoothness of the Peugeot is renowned among lovers of French classics. The seating comfort is simply unbeatable and the engine is powerful with a performance that reaches up to 170 km/ h. The 504 Cabriolet has its own unique character – with French charm.
Recommendation:
The 504 convertible can certainly be considered a sound investment, as its rarity and relatively good supply of spare parts are factors that contribute to its stable value. However, this model, built by Pininfarina, is above all a pleasure vehicle for anyone who wants to enjoy and share beautiful moments of convertible driving on classic routes.
