n 1982 Rover introduced the «Vitesse», a more «sporty» SD1, inheriting the know-how gained in the competition to give the 3. 5-liter V8 powered SD1 more power and better performance.
Improved engine heads, high compression pistons and a Lucas injection system were used, boosting horsepower from 155 to 192. The brakes were also improved now using ventilated discs and 4-piston calipers in front. In the suspension firmer torsion bars were added and the whole car was lowered about 3 centimeters.
In general, the Vitesse, was a faster, firmer and more effective car than the «normal» SD1s.
Inside, little has changed. The luxurious and spacious interior was maintained, but the front seats had a more sporty and modern look.
Outside, the Vitesse was fitted with a big rubber rear spoiler, that not only gave a more sporty look, but greatly improved the aerodynamic efficiency of the SD1. The 15-inch «BBS» style rims were the final «touch» to the race inspired look.
In total, only 3897 SD1 Vitesse were produced, making it a rare model, especially in the conditions in which it is found.
Chassis number SARRREWZ8CM307443, sold new in France and only one owner until 2016.
