The Appeal
Among the many Cobra replicas available, the Dax Tojeiro is highly regarded. Its reputation derives from its authenticity - it features a chassis designed by John Tojeiro, who engineered the original AC Ace. This car appears to have been built in the 1990s, taking its identity from a 1967 car, and features Rover’s venerated and venerable 3.5L V8 mated to a six-speed manual box.
Beyond the kit and the spec, what elevates any Cobra is the detailing. This car’s dark blue metallic paintwork is a delight, accenting the chromework - including side exit exhausts - and changing colour depending on the light. Like the well-detailed interior, with its classic dials, Willans harnesses, bucket seats and wood-rimmed wheel, it is all in very good order.
The vendor tells us that he acquired the car in 2023 from Cobra specialist Total Headturners. He has since invested £7,000 via V8 specialists, including a switch to more reliable Holley SniperEFI fuel injection. Other work has included cooling system, electrics and an engine tune.
This very tasteful Cobra replica leans into the vibe of the factory 427s without taking it too far. It’s a very appealing package.
The vendor says:
“Real head turner, loads of attention. Old style number plate and classic look makes it look genuine. Very rare colour that changes in the light. Drives and sounds great.”
