Description
For sale I have my 1966 Mustang V8 4. 7l coupe in race red with under 52100 miles on the clock. At some point the car has had a full respray and gt pack fitted. It now looks all intent and purpose like the rare GT version, with the GT badging, stripes, spot lights, twin exhaust etc. Apparently this was quite often done in the U. S as an after market add on. There is also paperwork suggesting a transmission overhaul.
Since I've owned the car the interior has been stripped out and replaced with new carpet and underlay, to include boot area. Quality leather seats( in the style of original vinyl ones). Seat belts, steering wheel, instrument panel, heater box, heater matrix, pipes and ducting. There is also new rear parcel shelf and speakers.
Overall the bodywork is in good condition. Not to say it is 100% as there are various paint chips, that have been touched up, some localised paint blending on the sills and some micro blistering to bonnet and a lesser extent on drivers side C post. But from about 1 metre away it shines like a new pin and looks absolutely awesome.
Various door/ window seals, door lock mechanism and door armrests have also been replaced. When I purchased the car there was a slight rust dusting underneath which has been thoroughly cleaned, treated and painted with Por 15 anti rust paint. All chassis internals and panels waxoyled for further protection. Brake Flexi hoses, rubber fuel hoses, steering joint boots have been renewed.
In the engine bay the carburettor had been replaced so had the radiator. Alternator has been refurbished, fuel pump and hoses renewed and engine compartment freshened with new paint. Everything done to the car has been sympathetic to how it should and how it might have looked coming out of the showroom over 55 years ago.
The only thing that has been added, that wasn't available back then is the electric power steering. Which I personally think enhances it's appeal. Needless to say it runs and drives perfectly. At some point it has had a total respray. Not to says it is 100% . There are various paint chips on door and panel edges which have been touched up. There is also some micro blistering to bonnet and lesser extent on the driver's c post. Areas of paint blending also on sill areas. Chrome work is shiny although some areas have become flat on shine. The interior is in tip top shape and mostly new. All carpet and underlay new to both cabin area and boot area. Genuine leather seat upholstery new and bespoke made in the style of original vinyl ones. Head lining original, so are the door cards but in excellent condition. Seat belts replaced. New steering wheel, instrument panel. New heater box complete with new heater matrix, hoses and ducting. Rear parcel shelf also brand new with new speakers. Electric power steering fitted. I bought the car a little over 18months ago from an online auction. To my knowledge I'm the 2nd owner in this country since it was imported from the U. S and first registered in UK 2015. Steering boots replaced, new fuel pump and rubber hoses. Underneath painted with por 15 anti rust paint. chassis and interior door panels have been waxoyld. Heater box, heater matrix, hoses and ducting renewed. Electric power steering fitted, so you don't now have to sweat at the gym to get arms like Arnold Schwarzenegger in order to drive it. New carburetor has been fitted as has the radiator. There is also paperwork suggesting a transmission overhaul. Runs and drives perfectly apart from occasional windnoise from windows. Which you'd kinda expect from a car from this era.
