Description

Jaguar xj6 x300 short wheel base, I’ve owned this car for about 18 months now and in my time of ownership I have done some mechanical work to it that was required, plus some structural repairs that it needed . Sadly it’s time for me to pass it on to someone else as I don’t have the time or the resources to restore it as I had originally planned. I have a bmw e46 and a van which I need to upgrade due to ulez so the jag must go.

In my time of ownership I have changed the water pump and thermostat, and a new alternator. This was done by my mechanic. I myself worked in the exhaust as it was hanging off the car pretty much and I took the most of it off and changed the flexi pipe section as it had a massive hole in the bottom of it!

The first job I had done was the welding as there was a lot of corrosion under the front left jacking point and also in front of the radiator. I had this all taken care of as it was needed to pass it’s mot.

I changed the radio for a modern Sony unit with Bluetooth although I have still got the original jag stereo.

The lady I bought it off had done stacks of work to it herself and there are tons of receipts for loads of bits. It had 4 new tyres a couple of years ago and they are still like new as it hasn’t been driven an awful amount. It could do with an alignment though as the wheel is off centre, although it tracks true to drive.

The biggest job she did was change the engine; the reason being the original motor had a failed head gasket and one of the head bolts snapped when doing the job. She replaced it with a whole new engine with a lot lower mileage. It was bought from a large jag dealer down on the coast and it had around 62k on it I believe. It is written down in the log book but very annoyingly I can’t find the paperwork with proof of purchase but it is 100% correct. The engine has no leaks, plenty of power and runs perfectly. The auto box shifts nicely as it should and the fluids where changed along with filters when the swap was done 2 years ago.

There are a few small problems with the car , pretty much all of them are cosmetic, with the bodywork being the worst . Even though it is fairly straight, it does have a few dents and scuffs and ideally would benefit from a full paint job. However given the age of the car I think it’s doing alright!

I’ve put over a grand into this car in parts alone and that’s pretty much what I payed for it, so that’s why I advertised it at this price. Given that it’s mechanically sound and fairly low mileage for age I think this is a fair price but I am open to sensible offers.

It is a base model and doesn’t have air con, although the sun roof does work, I have driven it around in 40 degrees and been quite comfortable. Half leather doe skin interior with walnut trims/ dash.

There is plenty of service history with the car, but more recent servicing was carried out by the previous owner.

Would make a great project and I’m reluctant to sell

Mot until November

I’m not in any major rush to sell, but it would be nice to get rid of it as I have some serious work to do on my bmw.
Drop me a message or call me on the details below

Cheers!
