Meet Severine!

Severine (SVR 532H) is a stunning, immaculate and show condition semi-automatic, Citroen DS 21 EFI Pallas, first registered in France on the 1st April 1970 with just one former owner on the log book in the UK, one in Holland and one in France since manufacture.

She makes people stop and stare admiringly. She makes old men’s hearts sing. And she’s the most beautiful DS or Pallas I’ve ever owned.

But don’t take my word for it - she has been looked after by renowned DS specialist Stuart at Brodie Engineering for many years, and he thinks it’s the best DS he has ever seen as well.

I bought this car for use in a TV programme we were making at my television production company Knickerbockerglory TV

Stuart at Brodie Engineering have looked after Severine for over a decade, servicing and maintaining her regularly for various owners.

Previous to that she was restored in the Netherlands in 2004 by the legendary Bart Holland - one of the world’s most famous and admired DS restorers. Every aspect of the restoration was meticulously documented and photographed, and I have all these photos and bills in a folder.

The car's bodywork is in immaculate condition and her bodywork is completely 100% rust free.

She has been dry stored in an underground car park at great expense.

She is painted in her original Gris Nacre (AC095) with Rouge fabric interior and carpets, white door trim and Gris Rose Wheel Rims (AC140). It is very rare indeed to find a DS Pallas in this sort of show condition, let alone with the fuel injection. Her paint is perfectly complemented by her original red seats, interior and carpets.

She is amazing on long journeys (she is my seventh DS!) and cruises happily at 70mph.

She no longer needs an MOT due to the new DVLA rules, but her last owner did get her an MOT before he bought it - which had zero advisories and ran out in January this year.

In fact - at every MOT she has had since 2013, she has had no advisories or failures. Her mileage is 32, 005 km, but amazingly she has only done 3, 097 km since 2013!

As an historic vehicle, she is also exempt from vehicle tax.

The whole car is in concours condition - completely spotless everywhere. You can see your face in her beautiful finish.

Mechanically no expense has been spared on the upkeep of this car. The engine purrs like no DS I’ve ever owned, starts first time every time and feels like you are driving a finely tuned, highly refined show classic. Even the radio works!

I love sitting in the driver seat, waiting for the hydraulics to lift you into the air, then gliding off, not having to worry about bumps in the road (it feels like you're driving on a cloud) and watching people wave (some even clap). She is an absolute dream to drive. I have the following receipts for the car:

16/ 9/ 2013 - Brodie Engineering: new throttle switch, adjust tracking, service gear change, new handbrake cable £379. 82

24/ 9/ 04 - Auto Renaissance: Maintenance: £1, 120. 88

12. 11. 2004 - Bart Holand - full nut and bolt restoration - £14, 159

8/ 7/ 2005 - Auto Renaissance Amsterdam: new sender pump, condenser, new radiator, blocks, regulator: £3000

TOTAL DOCUMENTED BILLS: £23, 375

The works ands restoration above cost over 23K, and she looks absolutely beautiful now and can be enjoyed for many years to come.

I believe in karma and honesty - so in that spirit the only tiny things I can think of which are negatives are that the clock is running slow, and the headlining has a small scuff mark behind the passenger seat. That's literally it.

Please know that the car is as described and you're welcome to come and check it over yourself. I am also a member of the Citroen Car Club. She is the best example of this model I have ever seen or owned. I used her only occasionally on dry days - without any problems whatsoever. For the filming I drove to Oxford with her for work and back without any problems.

I have never driven a car where I get stopped so regularly and have the car photographed. I often come back from a shop or trip out to find a crowd standing round the car, and stopping at traffic lights has become a conversation starter with neighbouring drivers popping their heads out of windows to have a chat.
