Descrizione
An early NA Mazda MX5 Eunos Roadster with a Rocketeer 3. 0 V6 Conversion
The Engine
The engine is a Jaguar AJ30 3. 0 V6. The engine came from a donor Jaguar S which had 13, 500 original miles at the time of the conversion (which I can verify). I have covered 2, 500 since the conversion.
The car makes approx 270bhp
The Rocketeer Conversion
The conversion was completed in 2018.
The car went to the Rocketeer workshop in September 2021 where they upgraded it with their latest MBE ECU, wiring loom and their own bespoke Throttle Bodies and set the car up.
Further information on the Rocketeer Conversion can be found at Rocketeercars. com or by doing a youtube search.
Key features of the kit include:
Bespoke Rocketeer Subframe and Engine Sump
Wiring Harness and ECU (since upgraded to MBE)
Gearbox adapter plate
Stainless steel twin exit exhaust and sports cat
The following were fitted in 2018 during the conversion:
New Meister R Zeta S Coilovers.
New TR Lane Roll Bar
IL Motorsport Rubber Bushes
Aluminium Radiator
Mk2. 5 sport Big Brake conversion with new disks & pads
6 Speed Gearbox (calibrated to the speedo)
Mk2. 5 sport Torsion LSD Diff and rear driveshafts
Mk2. 5 sport Rear Wishbones and Hubs (give a slightly wider track)
Hood with Glass rear window
The car also has the following additions:
15” BBS Alloy Wheels
New WestCo Battery fitted December 2022
New Nardi Gearknob (not fitted)
Upgraded Fuel Pump
The Car
I have owned the car since 2012. I bought it from a chap in my village who owned it for 5 years prior to me.
The car is in very good overall original unrestored condition. I have kept it garaged and only used it during summer months on dry days. The guy before me kept it in a car port. This goes a long way to explain the cars condition – there is no rust on the bodywork in the usual places and nothing has ever been welded or needs welding
It was originally a 1. 6 Eunos V Spec Roadster in Neo Green. Being a 1990 it is an early Mk1
The car drives well, goes well (as you would imagine!) and sounds awesome. The car still weighs under a ton, as the Jaguar Engine is aluminium compared to the Cast Iron Mazda unit, therefore weight distribution is unaffected and the nimble handling the Mx5 is famous for is still retained.
Since completing the car I have used it mainly for car shows where it gets a lot of attention.
The car has covered 105k miles (2500 of these since the conversion)
Mot till August 2024 (no advisories)
Car is located near Lichfield Staffs.
