Description
This is a very interesting Stag that needs some recommissioning and some improvements to be fun on the road again. I drove it when I purchased however I have not got the time to complete due to having a growing business.
Gearbox and overdrive worked perfectly well although does require a new clutch which is supplied.
Personally I am a fan of the Triumph Stag V8 but some people are still wary. This is definitely the car for you if you would prefer the engine that the Stag was supposed to be fitted with originally. A smooth six cylinder with the benefit of petrol injection.
The engine is from a Triumph 2. 5Pi and was fitted some years ago. The V5 log book correctly shows the Pi engine number.
The car includes a TR5/ 6 ehaust manifold which has been blasted and had its mating faces machined. Also a TR5 mild steel exhaust system which has been blasted and painted with heat resistant paint and has been oiled internally.
Rarely the boot floor is in exceptionally good condition. New boot floors are not the same or as good in my opinion.
Also exceptionally good is the panel work in the hood stowage area and all metalwork in the engine bay and battery storage area.
The Stags floors are in generally very good condition also with only minor metal works required where they meet the inner sills.
Some other small areas require metal work but most of the inner structure seems wonderfully solid.
The hood is in very good condition but may benefit from new perspex and some restitching on the inner door edges.
A headlined hardtop is included in the sale but does require some restoration.
Some localized metal works will be required on the outside edges of the body shell.
Parts supplied with the car include the following...
New correct sized tyres set of 4.
New alloy fuel tank with tank sender fitted and swirl pot for injection.
New performance alloy radiator.
Distributor has been rebuilt by specialist and tested (comes with performance chart)
New Borg and beck clutch kit including release bearing.
Plenum chamber blasted and powder coated.
Air cleaner blasted and primed.
I am willing to give advice to the lucky purchaser if required as I restore classic cars for a living, this was however going to be my own car.
Delivery can be arranged at additional cost.
Please feel free to call or message me for any additional information. JonThe Stag has long been a favourite of mine with its beautiful looks. I would have liked to keep this car and finish it but unfortunately someone else will benefit from its beauty and the addition of petrol injection.
Painted in bright Triumph Pimento red its previous owner said it gained much attention at shows.
