Hi this is my MK2 Golf GTI, 1991. I bought this as I am tired of modern cars and all their endless troublesome computers\sensors etc, this has a very small brain and zero trouble. When I bought it 6 years ago I replaced all the brakes and suspension and had any rust welded. I have used it as my daily driver for the six years passing MOT’s etc with minimal fuss. In the last year I have replaced the Starter, Alternator, both front callipers, master cylinder and pads, two new front tires etc. Oil and filters every 6 months, Cam belt around 10, 000 miles ago, all 4 wheel bearings. All parts are available and very cheap. I have taken it to Belgium, France and around the UK on holiday with the advantage of being able to keep up with modern traffic in 5th and returning 40+ mpg on a run.
It is in quite a rare blue which is one reason I picked it, but obviously has a few dents and blemishes which can be dealt with if you want to take it to the next level. It has all the daft nit picky bits like parcel shelf etc to complete the look.
Drives superbly, 8V which has great torque, something these engines should be remembered for. All gears work and select. Not too much else to say apart from it has served me very well, I have no complaints but get lots of folk asking me about it. I have it on classic insurance which is also cheap. Can be your daily driver, appreciating classic but easy to live with in todays world.
