DEPOSIT TAKEN PENDING COLLECTION WEDNESDAY 30th
Early series 1 Allegro 1300SDL (regd. Jan. 74) in Blaze orange. MOT (no advisories) until June 2024 even though exempt. Showing 43200 miles which given the condition of the interior may be correct, although it could equally have gone around the clock and just been well looked after!
I first owned this between 2010 and 2011, before selling to another club member. When they decided to move it on in 2021 I bought it back. For sale now due to purchasing a series one 1500.
Mechanically it’s pretty much as well sorted as an Allegro can get. Full stainless exhaust. New brake discs, calipers (with stainless pistons), all brake hoses, rear wheel cylinders. When I got it back I fitted a brake servo (along with a NOS master cylinder) as early A-series Allegros came without one and their brakes are somewhat feeble. New steering rack complete with track rod ends fitted last month. Oil & filter change, new spark plugs and leads earlier this year. The engine is excellent, and it faultlessly covered more than 300 miles over the Allegro 50 celebration weekend in May. I would happily drive it anywhere, and indeed will do so should someone want it delivered (for cost of fuel and return rail ticket).
The body is extremely sold. As far as I am aware and can see the only welding it’s had is a patch to the rear end of the nearside sill, and a bit to the lower edge of the offside front inner wing/’chassis leg’ done by my tame welder when I bought it back. It has also had both front wings replaced; the offside before I first owned it and the nearside (which is poorly painted) during the intermediate owner’s custody. It is however, numerous shades of orange, and has its fair share of small dints, marks, blebs of surface rust etc.
The interior is very good considering its age, with a small bit of damage to the driver’s seat by the reclining handle. And the steering column cowl um, isn’t there! A common Allegro problem; they are rare as the proverbial to find. The club have none, although have tentatively looked into getting them 3D printed.
Priced to reflect the cosmetic issues (and missing cowl).
Location: Norfolk/ Cambridgeshire border between Wisbech and Downham Market.
