Rare RHD Maserati 3500GT delivered new into the UK to a Mr Geoffrey in Cheshire. Restored to an exceptional standard.
Make no mistake this car has undergone a restoration on a scale rarely found, the panel gaps are perfect and the Rosso Cordoba paintwork is completely flat from all angles with a deep lustre. 2100 photographs document the restoration process which involved removal of the aluminium outer skin and new wired edge installation around all arches and valances.
To add a cherry to the cake this majestic carriage comes with two huge history files and Maserati Classiche documentation including the factory build sheet and verification that the engine is original and matching.
A previous owner was Ken Painter who served as secretary to the Maserati Owners club amongst other roles, sadly no longer with us but I was fortunate to meet him and hear of his weekly spirited 100 mile journeys from home to his military base in Notty in the 1970s.
The restoration included
Removal of outer skins, the steel frame was then blasted, etch primed, epoxy primed, stone chipped and over painted with a two pack top coat.
The aluminium work was repaired as necessary. Again primed, stone chipped and top coated, any areas where steel can come into contact with the aluminium body were insulated.
All suspension parts were blasted and painted to an extremely high standard with all rubber parts replaced.
The engine has been rebuilt with the crank precision ground and balanced, new cylinder liners and pistons.
The pistons and Con rods were balanced by weight and moment.
New flywheel, clutch, gearbox rebuilt with new seals.
A new wiring loom was fitted.
The interior has been expertly re trimmed.
The list of work done is endless. A truly eye catching beautiful car that is the centre of attraction wherever it goes.
