Perfectly balanced in originality and degree of restoration
From a top-class collection
With the Maserati 3500 GT, Maserati began series production of road sports cars; all previous models had been more or less competitive one-offs.
The engine of the 3500 GT was derived from that of the Tipo 350S racing model. It was a 3. 5-liter inline six-cylinder engine with two overhead camshafts that produced 220 hp.
The 3500 GT was offered as a coupe and as a spider.
The body was designed by Carozzeria Touring, which produced the Aston Martin DB4 at the same time.
Touring used its own patented “Superleggera” method: thin aluminum sheets were pulled over a steel molded frame that had previously been connected to the longitudinal frame.
By 1964, a total of 1, 972 examples of the closed 3500 GT and GTI models had been produced with factory bodywork (Touring); in addition, there were 245 Vignale Spiders.
As a luxury car, the 3500 GT attracted numerous buyers from politics, society, and show business. In addition to Prince Rainier III of Monaco, Tony Curtis, Stewart Granger, Rock Hudson, Dean Martin, and Anthony Quinn drove a Maserati 3500.
Our car is certainly one of the most beautiful in the series, perfectly balanced in originality and level of restoration!
It has been part of a high-caliber collection for the past 20 years.
Between 2007 and 2010 it was restored in Italy by one of the best Maserati workshops known to us for approximately €150, 000.
It has been regularly driven and serviced in the collection, most recently receiving a fresh German MOT in July 2024 and is ready for a stylish long journey.
