2005 MG ZT-T 2. 5 180 SE Sports Auto.
Owned since 2020, this car was intended to be the 'keeper' after a decade of Zed cars. Lack of long-term storage forces sale.
This is number 32 of 33 MG ZT-Ts built in Rio Red, a rare 2005MY colour. Of the 33 built, this is the only 180 Sports Auto - the V6 automatic. Being the SE model, the car comes with additional features such as:
Xenon headlights with power-wash
Highline satellite navigation (BMW E46 derived)
Harman Kardon sound system with subwoofer (reconditioned in this car)
Heated and electrically adjustable front seats
Cruise Control
Sunroof
Plus much more.
I purchased this car from a family who'd owned the car since 2006. Included in the substantial history is the original Autotrader advert from when they went to view the car.
Since taking the car on, I have undertaken the following to return the car as close to original condition.
- All important 3x Cambelt change. (This was done originally in October 2020 at 94, 753 miles, with the main belt and water pump replaced again in April 2023 - idler, tensioner and rear belts inspected)
- Lower coolant rail replaced with stainless steel product and replacement new pipes to oil cooler.
- Engine thermostat, temp. sensor and inlet manifold gaskets replaced
- New Nissens radiator
- Replacement new VIS Motors
- New Coil Packs and Spark Plugs
- New aux belt idler and tensioner pulleys
- New fuel pump and in-tank filter (Bosch)
- Front brakes upgraded to 325mm '190' specification with refurbished callipers and new pad clips
- New brake lines in cunnifer to ABS module (front and rear)
- Powerflex lower engine mount fitted
- ZT 190 'fast-action' throttle body.
- New front drop links
- Spring Protectors fitted
- New exhaust centre section. (60mm) and genuine MGR XPower Backbox fitted
- Complete rear suspension overhaul including:
New DMGRS suspension arms (upper and lower)
Replacement of all rose-joints.
Powerflex trailing arm bushes
NOS rear anti-roll and and drop links (polybushes on ARB)
Subframe stripped, treated, painted and waxed
Replacement rear brake discs and pads, callipers refurbished and new pad clips.
- Handbrake system overhauled, with new pads and adjuster springs, much improved mini compensator fitted.
- Original 18" 'Apex' alloy wheels refurbished to correct shadow chrome finish, with continental tyres all-round, new wheel bolts and centre badges.
- Interior stripped, sunroof-drains repaired (known 75/ ZT Issue) and Pre project-drive carpet fitted.
Plus much more, all documented, with supporting photographs.
Bodily the car is in good condition, wtih no rust on the sills as these cars are now beginning to suffer from. It is an 18yr old car that's covered over 100, 000 miles so has marks commensurate with age.
The car comes with 2 keys, which both work, a near full service book and a ring binder full of invoices, including 2006 sales receipt.
I had the privilege of presenting the car in an edition of MG Enthusiast early this year, a copy of this will be included with the sale.
The private plate is included, having been with the car since 2006 and is HPI Clear.

It is both HPI clear and ULEZ exempt
The car is located just south of Lincoln, Lincolnshire. Interested buyers are more than welcome to come and view the car, which is strongly encouraged to ensure the car matches your expectations. The MG ZT-T is a fast appreciating modern classic, offering an excellent driving experience, whilst having the practicality of an estate.
Intended as a keeper, this car has many of the usual ZT/ 75 niggles addressed, providing the new owner with all the benefits and assurances of many miles of very enjoyable driving.
