Description
This MGB LE model was manufactured in 1979 for export to the USA. It was re-imported in 1995 and converted to RH drive. It has leather seats and a Motolita steering wheel. There is a wealth of paperwork covering all the routine maintenance that has been performed by previous owners as well as an extensive MoT record. At some stage it has been resprayed silver though the original colour would have been black. I have had the radiator refurbished and a new thermostat fitted. I have also recently fitted a new vinyl hood and had a new MoT (although it is exempt). The ignition system has been refurbished (new condenser, points, rotor, distributor cap, leads and plugs) and the breathing system overhauled to original. The carburetors have been removed and refurbished by a specialist company (in order to pass MoT). The car is in good order throughout - everything works. There is no structural rust.
I believe I am the 5th owner. Previous owners have maintained the car well and there is lots of paperwork to prove it. I bought the car about 4 years ago from a specialist MG dealer with the intention of using it as a hobby car - but that didn't happen. In fact I have have done very little mileage and the car has been stored in my garage. I need the space now so it has to go. The first 15 years or so it was in the USA and I know nothing about it's history there. In the early 1990's it was imported back to the UK and from then on I have a good paper trail. I think this is a good car. I recently had it MoTd and it failed on emissions, The carbs could not be adjusted so had to be removed and refurbished. The ignition was also refurbished and timing set. The breathing system had been changed and was losing oil so that was also revamped back to the original set up. It then flew past the MoT. I also had a new thermostat fitted and head gasket. The compressions are all good and she pulls well. The electric cooling fan is on a manual switch.
