1989 PORSCHE 911 CARRERA TARGA TURBO RESTOMOD
An absolutely superb restomod - effectively a 911 3. 3 turbo rebuilt in a skinny 1989 Carrera targa shell.
This 911 comes with a massive history file detailing exactly how it was built, but essentially as follows:
Body and interior: 1989 Amazon Green Carrera targa in near concours condition. Lightly modified with partial strip of interior and replacement of whale tail with a carbon composite ducktail engine lid / rear spoiler.
Mechanicals: taken from a 5 speed 930 with the exception of those custom parts required to ensure correct fitment in narrow body shell.
New crankcases were bought from Porsche Cars GB and the engine was completely rebuilt to 964 turbo S spec (381bhp), achieved by modified turbocharger, 964 turbo intercooler and bespoke 934 style exhaust system. The performance is exceptional, and can give many a current Porsche model one heck of a surprise.
Wheels are 7J and 9J Fuchs.
Major service at independent Porsche specialist less than 100 miles ago, and just sailed through MoT.
Car can be viewed in south Devon.
I first came across this car years ago at a Classic Car show at Gaydon. I tried to buy it then, but the owner and I couldn't agree a deal. However, we did keep in touch, and as both our circumstances changed, we were able to conclude the deal in 2017.
I was particularly please as by that time I'd moved south to Devon, and whilst I'd always been a fan of the wide arched 930, the skinny Carrera shell is more suited to narrow Devon lanes, and the fact that the roof panel can be removed is a definite summer bonus.
There is a massive history and build file with this exceptional car, and if this type of restomod appeals to you, you'd be hard pressed to find a better one.
