Description
MoT'd on September 1st 2023. No advisories. MoT'd in the local government MoT testing facility. These are regarded as operating to higher standards than testing stations in G. B.
Just been fully serviced, at the time it was prepped for the MoT test.
I bought the vehicle before Covid and its sat in a dry, sealed warehouse since. (see photos)
The guys that I bought the vehicle from told me that the previous owner attempted a military style paint scheme to take it to military re-enactment events. This is a high cap and anyone who knows Land Rovers, knows that these are becoming rare.
I've priced this vehicle to sell. Not to achieve the highest amount I can. I've compared it to other high caps advertised recently across the UK and I believe that my price is fair.
Its in great shape. The bulkhead and chassis are all solid. The underside has a thin sheen of surface rust in some places and if I was keeping the vehicle, I'd remove that and retreat the underside. The thin surface rust is why I've not labelled the vehicle as in excellent condition.
The original engine was swapped out for a 300TDI engine and it pulls like a train. When I bought it, I drove it from Colchester up to the Cairnryan ferry and it never missed a beat. Its done almost no mileage since.
As well as the working snorkel. Its had a lift kit and a working Clansman radio and arial fitted.
The guys I bought it from restore main battle tanks and used the Land Rover as an escort vehicle, when they were moving tanks around on tank transporters.
The engine leaks no oil, nor anything else. Rare in Land Rovers!
The gearbox seems fine. As do the tyres.
The doors and cab floors are all absolutely solid with no rust.
I bought it to renovate and use with my sailing charity for veterans and first responders. All proceeds will go to the charity, to help set it up.
I would've restored the vehicle before now. However, Covid really knocked me off my feet and I have other health conditions which I've had to focus on, as my health has fallen off a cliff.
I will entertain offers very near the asking price. This is a vehicle with a solid body and chassis and a great engine. The tailgate is solid and without rust as is the load area. If you're looking for a hi cap, this is about as low risk as you'll get. The lift kit really gives it road presence.
Its structurally sound, according to the recent MoT.
The owner who renovated the vehicle saw the ad and got in touch. He told me that he did a ground up restoration when he owned it and I can believe it. You rarely see a Defender of this age in this condition. I wish I was keeping her!
The ONLY negatives are that the history was lost before I bought it and I never got around to getting the V5.
I realise the missing V5 is a nuisance. With my illness I kept forgetting to apply for it. I'll prove my identity etc to the buyer, so there's no question of anything untoward. Though to advertise here, I had to prove my identity with official docs.
I'm happy to facilitate viewings. To drive the vehicle, you must show proof of comprehensive cover to drive the vehicle.
I can drop the vehicle at Belfast Port and it can be loaded by Stena as freight and collected in Cairnryan or Liverpool. Or, I can arrange delivery from my address to yours. However the buyer will pay the costs of transport. Payment by bank transfer or cash on collection only.
All proceeds of the sale will be going to my sailing charity.
Getting veterans, first responders and NHS staff, who have PTSD and associated conditions due to occupational experiences out on the water. This encourages them to try more structured therapies and ultimately lead happier lives. This is proven to work and I hope to get it set up in 2025 and dedicate the reasonably healthy years I have left to it.
Thanks!

I will consider offers very near the asking price.
However, please bear in mind that this is for a very good cause.
