Saab 9000 CS Carlsson 1992
Virtually a barn find, but with the benefit of an MoT! This is a very rare car, being one of only 8 left on the road. The Carlsson is the direct ancestor of the Aero but there are ten times as many Aeros as Carlssons on the road. This is one of the last 9000 Carlssons, being registered 3rd August 1992.
Of all the classic marques, Saab seems to be the one that has not yet really taken off yet. One thing this car has got, which modern cars can lack, is soul.
The reason I am selling is because I don?t use it enough. It is a manual and drives well, though the gearbox will need looking at. It has the original Carlsson interior with extremely comfortable seats which were specially produced for this model, and the iconic Carlsson steering wheel. It has a sunroof, electric windows and central locking. The new Viper alarm gives an extra level of security and you can even open the boot remotely. It comes with two sets of keys.
Mileage is just under 130k. It passed its MoT on 12th April 2023. There are a few spare parts with it.
I bought the car in the lockdown summer of 2020 and have spent a ton of money on it over the last 3 years. A lot of work has been done at Saabtec in Glossop including:
? Services
? New radiator
? Viper alarm (2 keys and fobs)
? New ABS sensor
? Welding
All this has cost a fair few thousand pounds. I have a stack of receipts and it has an extensive service history. There is work to be done, such as:
? Some bodywork
? Tidying up the paintwork
? Wheel refurb
? Headlining is a bit saggy
? The air con needs a regas
You hardly see 9000s of any description on the road these days and I am pretty sure you won?t see another Carlsson in the metal, even at classic car shows. This is a classic car that is over 30 years old. It is in good condition but it does have its faults so the new owner will have to do some done, as with all classics. It?s a barn find +; a real passion project.
