Description
Citroen XM 24v.
A very reluctant sale, forced by having too many other projects, including another XM!
This is an extremely rare and desirable XM in emerald green. These cars are rising in value for very good reason.
In good to very good condition she is one of only 3 surviving UK 24v cars on the road and is a very early car from the first couple of months of the models introduction, registered in October 1990.
Two Citroen XM forum members from Norfolk were offered this car when it was found in a collapsed garage back in 2020. They didn't want to scrap her for parts and offered her to me for sale so that I could recommission her after her 15/ 16 year hibernation!
A photo pack of the cars recommissioning will be made available to the new owner.
She is now on the road with a long MOT (Oct 2024.) I first put her back on the road in 2021 only to take her off the road again to iron out some niggles such as a noisy gearbox and throttle position sensor issues, both now sorted out.
The list of works that I have carried out on her is exhaustive and too much to write about here. My log book of work for the car is available to view along with invoices and will be sold with the car.
She is a one owner from new car, being first a company car and then owned personally by the same person until laid up in 2006. The owner looked after her very well, servicing her every 3000 miles.
The early 24v cars were known to have engines that wore out the cam followers after only a few thousand miles, this car was no exception and had the much more robust later specification 24v engine fitted in 1994. The owner insisted on using Mobil 1 engine oil which means that the engine is in very good order still with 134000miles on the clock.
Fitted with a stainless steel sports exhaust and de-catted, she drives extremely well and definitely has more than the stated 200bhp!
All the suspension and accumulator spheres were new in 2021 and the 'Hydractive' works as it should.
The interior has cleaned up very well and is a very pleasant place to be. I refurbished the black headlining using the original fabric which has come up beautifully.
The roof suffered some damage in her rescue from the garage which has been rectified and the roof resprayed.
She is rust free and very solid underneath.
Period Good Year Eagles are fitted all round.
She comes with some history, salvaged from her recommissioning which provides a window into how she was maintained.
Issues:
I have managed to get 99. 9% of the electrics working successfully, a recalcitrant outside temperature sensor gives an incorrect reading and a speedo sensor needs replacing to make the trip computer work, however the RH dash board read out for the computer is in very condition, which is quite a rare treat!
The AC needs recommissioning, the parts are still available to do this.
In summary she is strikingly rare car that drives as she should in a very quick, comfortable and competent way. She will be sorely missed by us all.
Paul
