Yamaha Rd400F Daytona Special
I brought this bike in 2000 from Warehouse Motorcycles in Godstone kent as a restoration project, The bike was complete but had cosmetic damage but had all the correct emission parts and low mileage, I set about a full restoration over the next 2 years, finding many New old stock parts from America and the UK .
The original Yamaha exhaust pipes where brought from the US and had been removed from a very low mileage bike (for the fitment of DG pipes as is very common)
New genuine cables, tyres and bearings and engine rebuilt with new bearings, genuine 2V0 pistons ect.
Luckily all the Special emmision parts where on the bike and intact as these even in 2000 where hard to find !!!
I had the frame repainted and all the exhillery parts aswell.
The paintwork (except the front mudguard which is colour matched) are original paint and came from a collector in the US who swapped his low mileage paintwork for New Old Stock parts??? I brought his original set from him!!
The seat came from the same source and is in lovely condition
All the brakes where rebuilt and suspension had new seals and oil
The bike has been in storage since 2005 and it has had the fuilds drained including the break fuild removed , so will need recommissioning to ride on the road!!
I have the V5 and the bike has matching numbers (starting 2V0-)I rode the Daytona for 2/ 3 years but only covered 600 miles , I had to many other bikes at the time!! ( still have!!)
It went very well and handled much nicer than the UK Rd400"s due In part to the seat position being lower , I felt you sat in it rather than on it?
When I rode around on the Daytona most people did not know what it was as it's so different to the UK models so caused a lot of interest where ever it was parked!!
