Alfa Romeo GTV6 3. 0 South African Homologation Special

Chassis No. ZAR 116 C00 350 05 84

We are delighted to present to you, the fastest production sports car ever built by Alfa Romeo in the 80’s. The GTV6 3. 0 was developed mainly for racing, however for it to qualify to race Alfa Romeo had to build and homologate a minimum of 200 examples. Alfa Romeo South Africa, in conjunction with Alfa Romeo racing division Autodelta, built 200 units of the GTV6 3. 0. Today, it is believed that less than 90 are still in existance.

With its debut, it won the 1983 Group One International two-hour race in Kyalami. This was its racing debut. Then after that it took 1st and 2nd place in Group One class of the Castrol three-hour race in Killarney and its Index victory at the World Endurance Championship 1000 km Race back at Kyalami in December that year. These 3. 0 models were all fit with the Dell’Orto Carburettors where they replaced the fuel injection systems, this was all in the formula to replace the peak power with low end torque. With this mod it increased the power to 136KW at 6700rpm and still managed to hit a top speed of 224km/ h, 0-100km/ h was 8. 36 seconds. It didn’t stop there, Alfa made some visible changes too, the bonnet was replaced with the even larger bulge with large forward facing NACA air intake duct. The positive adjustments to the chassis were lowered and stiffened suspension and wider Pirelli P7's (205/ 50 VR 15's) on Compomotive sectional alloy rims.

Released from a private collection of fine Italian automobiles, this stunning exclusive GTV6 3. 0 colour of Ice white over its black velour interior, this gorgeous example is presented in original and unmodified condition which still features its impossible to find 15-inch Compomotive sectional alloys. All the bumpers, dash/ plastic mouldings have not suffered from their usual sun damage and factory seats and trims shows very little signs of age and the condition of all the dials, instruments and trims reflects of a car that has led a cherished life.

It has just completed a recent sympathetic mechanical overhaul by a well respected Italian car specialist attending to anything required to bring the car up to A1 condition, with over $20, 000 of recent receipts and is now readily prepared for total peace of mind motoring for its next custodian.

The drive is superbly addictive with its torquey gutsy free revving Autodelta 3. 0 Busso V6 feed by six Dellorto carburettors producing one of the most spine tingling soundtracks, new clutch, delightfully smooth gearbox and tight rattle free suspension.

The GTV6, in particular the 3. 0 South African Homologation model is fast becoming one of the most collectable of the 80's Alfa Romeos, due to its rarity, extreme looks and Autodelta pedigree. With prices of all 80's racing Homologation model cars on the rapid rise (Ford Sierra Cosworth, BMW M3, Merc 190 Cosworth etc) this is a wonderful and seldom-seen opportunity to acquire one of these ultra-rare 3. 0 GTV6 Alfa Romeos in Australia. This carburetors GTV6 offers a unique driving experience and looks that resemble nothing else on the road today. This is truly a must-own Alfa histrionic car for any true Alfisti.
