One of the most original mk1 1600 Golf GTi’s you will find
Hello, I have decided the time has come to part with my partner’s 1981 GTi that she has owned since he was about 2 years old.
For the last 20-odd years he has been in a dry SW France barn having been retired for reasons I can’t quite remember.
I decided to recommission him during covid and have done 90% of the what has been quite light work needed to get him back on the road and being enjoyed.
This includes
Correct Pirelli tyres
Fuel pump, lines and injectors
Carpets
Brake discs, drums, pads, shoes and copper/ flex lines
Adjustable Heritige VW shocks
Front spoiler
Various other service items
He does run but is in dire need of setting up properly, as my lack of knowledge in that dark art as well as a new job means my weekend time is now very limited.
You’ll see from the pic that the original paint presents very well with perhaps a dozen small areas where professional paint matching is needed.
Structurally he is very very good and I have access to a 2-post ramp, so either photos or inspection is easy.
Please let me know if you would like more photos and of what.
We have stacks of receipts and paperwork, and will be very sorry to see him go.
We are located in SW France in the Cahors region, so well supported by airports all year around.
The car is orignal RHD and has no Goodmans speaker holes in the parcel shelf!
I travel to the UK for work regularly and have access to a car transporter, as well as another classic that I want to bring down here (that needs less expertise to finish!), so moving him et cost is an option.
