Description
This is your chance to get your hands on an iconic British classic! This 1971 (pre-federal) MK4 Spitfire is guaranteed to put a smile on your face. From its vibrant red exterior to its lightweight sporty chassis, this car is an absolute joy to both look at and drive.
There has been a few modifications to this car over its 53 years of life and has been worked on by enthusiasts regularly being serviced and updated. Unfortunately because of this the car doesn't come with any service history however you will instantly be able to tell it has been a car that has been well looked after.
This car has been upgraded to a more reliable electronic ignition system as well as a high inertia starter motor. The twin carburettors are relatively new and have just been set up by a classic car garage as well as the timing recently being adjusted at their same time. It has just had a brand new set of spark plugs and HT leads all brought from Rimmer Bros over in Lincoln. Some body restoration work has certainly taken place and to a good standard however I don't have a list of exactly what's been done as this was not during my ownership. A new roof has also been fitted to this car in recent years as well as the rims from a GT6 which are rare in themselves.
The bad points on this car is the paint has a few chips here and there and could definitely use a refurb if you are taking this car to shows, but if you want a car that is a usable reliable classic then this it it. Additionally the brakes desperately need a service, which I've unfortunately not had time to do.
The reason for the sale is I currently work 160 miles from home Monday to Friday and I simply do not have the time to use it anymore and I have 2 other cars so storage is becoming an issue.
This car needs to be seen in person as the pictures do not do it justice!
