Here we have MX5 MK1 RS limited for sale, one of the rarest and most desirable MK1’s available. Only 75k mileage with MOT till July 2024, no advisories on last MOT. Car is in excellent condition inside and out, no visible rust issues, complete with matching colour hardtop. Original and rare 15-inch BBS wheels in mint condition with almost new Uniroyal Rainsport Tyres fitted all round. Lotus Elise seats fitted in matching blue alacantra – a desirable set of lightweight seats for the MX5. Racingbeats rear bumper fitted, this is a nice upgrade and costs around 650 dollars to order from racingbeats. BC racing coilovers (around £1k) which are are a massive improvement over the standard Bilsteins and provide a good compromise between comfort, stiffness and handling. Hard dog roll bar worth over £700 fitted – this is a proper roll bar and won’t flatten you if you turn over like other MX5 style bars. Additionally the car has electronic side mirrors as well as the usual spec of Nardi Steering wheel. electric windows, power steering, AC, Torsen LSD etc. PLX Gauges (previous owner planned to turbo but never got round to it). Also rare carbon fiber Mazdaspeed gear knob fitted!
The car has been enthusiast owned, the previous owner worked for Bentley and owned the car for over ten years, has been well looked after which shows in the bodywork – there is barely a dent or blemish anywhere on the car, has been treated to a full respray at some point; done professionally, one of the cleanest MX5’s I have come across. No rust spots visible the sills and arches are solid and the underneath looks very clean and is undersealed. Heated hardtop is in great condition, soft top doesn’t leak although it is a bit tired. All electrics work perfectly. 2 set of keys with upgraded thatcham Alarm with fob immobilzer. Large folder of history with the car, with logbook in my name in hand. Driving wise the car is an absolute pleasure to drive – the throttle response is amazing, engine revs freely, glues to the road in corners with no knocks or noises from suspension. Upgraded exhaust provides a lovely sound but isn’t too loud. Overall everything feels very planted and solid.
I’m an MX5 enthusiast and member of the owner’s club, I’ve owned many of the limited editions over the years, and this is one of the nicest examples of the RS limited I am aware of while also being one of the nicest MX5’s period. It is a pleasure to drive and the condition is excellent throughout and can be used and enjoyed straight away by the new keeper. This is a reluctant sale due to having a few too many cars at the moment and a recent trackday car purchase.
Considering the rarity of RS’s coming for sale this is a real bargain for someone and a rare opportunity to buy one of these appreciating editions, admittedly missing the original recaro seats; the Lotus Elise seats are more comfortable and still maintain the look of the RS, while still being a cool seat option for the MX5 and worth a fair amount on their own. Coupled with the other upgrades mentioned this has to be one of the best equipped and spec’d MX5’s available. You could swap out bits on this car and get to two thirds of what im asking, considering the price of these cars is going up year on year, there really isn’t any scenario where you can lose money and if I had garage space to spare I would be keeping it!
