Well I guess you know what you're looking at something a little bit special - a Jaguar E-Type Lightweight with very negligible use since the restoration was completed. It was a bucket list car for me that I wanted to take to the LeMans Classic with a close friend but events have overtaken us and I have to admit that advancing years and declining health mean that it's time to let this car go before I get reported to the RSPCA for cruelty to Jaguars... Someone else should be exercising the car instead.
This Jaguar has the 3. 8 Straight 6 engine you'd expect to see and it starts on the first turn of the key with the choke controlling the triple SU carburettors. The engine and mechanical components were built and set up by Just Historics at Brands Hatch and has excellent oil pressure (full deflection) and a lovely gearbox too. Brands Hatch is where the majority of it's 188 miles were done during set up!
The body tub was restored by G&A Fabrications and is fitted with an alloy bonnet and bootlid with the vented ducktail that matches the one on the glass fibre hard top. The car features a recessed racing alloy filler cap, leather safety straps to protect the bonnet and a quick release boot latch with a four point roll cage to protect the occupants should the worst ever happen!
The car was painted at Kingswell Coachworks who were responsible for the finish of a D Type Jaguars' recent Pebble Beach Concours win. It's simply stunning complete with cream painted racing roundels.
The interior was fully trimmed by CA Upton & Sons in lovely red leather and red carpeting. The removable hardtop is also lined and there are four point Luke harnesses for the driver and passenger. The boot is fitted with matching carpeting underneath which is an alloy floor held in place by Dzus fasteners concealing the spare wheel.
The cars suspension is fully rebuilt and features Eagle trick suspension front pick ups with Dunlop alloy type wheels with knock on tri-wing spinners and are shod with Avon rubber.
The car is MOT exempt and registered with historic status. It has just been fitted with a fresh, new battery to ensure it's ready for it's new owner to drive away.
