Description
Some cars are just cars; others are heirlooms. This 1951 Jaguar XK120 SE undoubtedly falls into the latter category. 51 years in the same ownership, cherished as the centerpiece of a family, with a story as timeless as its design. A classic that helped shape the future of motoring and arguably one of the finest lines of any car ever made.
This XK120 is the quintessence of perfect imperfectness – The paint is certainly not in Concours-condition, but it's a solid 7, 5/ 10. It is boasting a unique and irresistible presence in deep red, with matching red wheels, spats and a new red leather interior. A car that doesn’t just drive but makes a statement. She's been kept in her original condition, while just refreshing the interior, dash, steering wheel and wheels. Guarding the soul. There are some imperfections in the paint, which makes it even more desireable for some. Wherever it goes, it turns heads. It's just an amazing car to drive, which makes me even more sad about selling. For me personally, there are, in this segment, no cars that can compete with an imperfect Jag XK120 OTS. Certainly not in this condition and combination.
Technically, she's in great condition. Over the past five years, €25, 000 has been invested in maintenance and restoration (invoices available). Fully inspected mechanically, with completely new leather, custom made interior, renewed steering wheel and dashboard, chrome in impeccable shape and a professional paint correction to get it in top condition – ready for many more years of driving pleasure. We chose the wired steering wheel as she has a little racing history as well. That's why there's also a hours-counter built in the dash. The XK120 remains one of the most exhilarating classic cars to drive.
The Jag also comes with a tonneau cover, a soft top that's in brand new condition, windows, a spare wheel, tools as old as the car itself, the aforementioned invoices and even the purchace agreement of 1971 and Heritage Certificate. Belgian registration.
That it’s now for sale is a bittersweet moment, but it deserves a new enthusiast who will cherish it just as much. I'm not a trader nor professsional garage, I was happy to be a mere passer-by in this car's history and I'm sure the next owners will be just as excited as I am. Welcome in any race, any event on almost any continent in the world, she's ready to get in and enjoy without any work to be done. For those who would want to get it back in concours shape, it's a perfect basis to start from with very low costs to do so. (paint job) I put the price at €100. 000, where it feels right given the value and the current market. I'm leaving the concours, rotisserie, matching numbers,... behind. Big words for bigger prices. This example enjoys a little patina, a lot of story, and a lot of true enthusiasm. A solid investment to enjoy to the max. I'm open to respectful suggestions but come see her first.
That being said, you are very welcome to visit and enjoy. The pictures aren't taken with an exceptional camera either. The weather is turning warm and sunny again, so I'm very happy to take her out and enjoy the back roads for a viewing. There will be coffee as well.
I speak Dutch, French and English. Many pictures available for international buyers and always happy to help.
