Description
1974 Toyota Celica ST 22 years in my ownership (dry stored), this car needs a full body restoration and engine build. My plan was for a turbocharged & fuel injected wide-body Resto-Mod, so the wheels, arches and chin-spoiler have been attached to inspire stylistically. The bad bits – Sills, rear arches, front bottom of wings, lower doors panels, rear corner panels, front and rear windscreen surrounds, some patch-up repairs work from years ago. Non-runner but engine turns freely by hand. On the plus side – Registered Historic Vehicle Black interior in decent condition although the seats are tired. Dash, door cards, roof lining are excellent. 1600cc 2TG twin-cam engine and 5-speed gearbox. EFI inlet manifold and turbo exhaust manifold (but no ECU, turbo, intercooler etc). Corolla AE86 front struts with vented discs. 16"x8" Image split-rims (new) Outer-sill repair panels included.
The car is very complete (only missing carbs/ inlet manifold / airbox, exhaust & manifold, door mirrors, the original steering wheel). Comes with a small box of ancillary spares. Original 4-speed gearbox & bare block and cylinder head (2TB engine) included. Not a rot box, you won't be chasing for good metal to weld.
I've had the car assessed by a restorer who thinks this is mostly an easy car to restore. A good solid main structure underneath (chassis rails and floors) and a good bulk-head. Inner-wings require minor attention and front panel needs a bit more. Boot-lid is excellent, boot floor is excellent but needs attention where it meet the rear corners. The tricky bit is front screen surround especially around the A-pillar where it meets the scuttle and the roof. The lower door skins and a section on the bonnet frame are also not in best shape. Sills, arches, rear corners and lower front wing panels are easy repairs. So whilst there is plenty to do in order to get this "scabby around the edges" car restored, there is plenty you won't need to do. This isn't an unfinished project, it's a not-started project. And this isn't a box of bits where you'll find stuff missing after a year into the restoration - it's all there (unless otherwise stated above). I'm selling because I know I'll never find the time to do it, and I'm not getting any younger. Hoping my vision of how cool this little car could be will appeal to someone with the same taste. Happy to negotiate on price if you want to take a look.
