REGRET HAD A TIME WASTER SO EVER MORE EAGER TO SELL THIS MINI AND WILL ACCEPT OFFERS. A one off opportunity to buy a rebuilt car that has done less than 100 miles- This car was built for a continental tour across the Picos Mountains in Spain last month. Alas I had to undergo major spine surgery two weeks before and cannot drive long distances or enthusiastically for a long time. Hence the very very reluctant sale of what was to be my last Rally/ Tour car build (I have built many and rallied all over Europe). I acquired a 1993 rust free Mini Sprite as a base (not easy to find and it had only done 42000 miles), it was a lovely shell as a base. The rear subframe was replaced along with all the brakes and suspension. The front suspension was all renewed along with all the brake components. A sump guard was fitted too. The exhaust is an original (hard to find) Peco with twin central pipes. The original also comes with the car.
Conscious it is a small car and we would be driving in rural Spain I had the sills replaced and fully welded in and a half cage fitted behind the driver (which can easily be removed as is bolted in with no trim damage). It is also nowhere near the drivers head. The shock absorbers are all new Gas and fully adjustable. Wheels are Minilite with nearly new tyres. The fuel pump was replaced with an electric one and the tank removed and steam cleaned. The battery is brand new and the engine has had a full top end overhaul and valve regrind. The radiator was replaced with a new one. I opted to keep one SU carb (fully rebuilt by SU) as this is easier to keep in tune. The grill is a Cooper S grill. Inside is standard as it was so good. I replaced the two instrument binnacle with a three instrument binnacle including a rev counter. The steering column was lowered 2 inches which makes for a much better driving experience, The car was originally a silver blue metallic which (to me) looked wrong so I decided to go the whole way and had a 'glass out' full respray in BMC Iris Blue with an Old English White roof, It now looks stunning. To enhance the period look I acquired a 1967 F reg number plate and the car is fully registered with that with the DVLA. New wheel spats come with the car (It is legal without) however I think it looks better without them so they were left off.
The cost to build this car far far exceeds the sale price as I had no intention of selling it, ever, and no expense was spared, but my Spine situation cannot be ignored and it has to be sold. No offers please- this is a unique opportunity as the car has done less that 100 miles since being built. It also come with a £325 fitted waterproof breathable cover.
