1968 MGB GT 1800 Overdrive
MOT, tax and ULEZ exempt.
Excellent mechanical condition, extremely solid and reliable with many upgrades.
It appears to be an older restoration which was done to a high standard. The sills are solid, as are the wing seams front and rear, and rear spring hangers. Inner wings and trumpet sections are solid. Wheel arch lips are crisp and clean. The doors close easily. Floors are good. All carpets can be lifted for inspection.
The 18V engine is fitted with a Peter Burgess Econotune spec reconditioned and upgraded cylinder head (receipt from 2022). Cylinder compressions are good and even. Oil pressure is good, idling at 45psi, with 60psi at 2500rpm. This car runs happily on premium unleaded with no additives needed and no overheating.
At idle the temp needle is just below the N. In traffic the needle will rise just above the N mark before the fans kick in and bring it back down. Coolant has been changed recently with the new aluminium radiator. Gearbox/ overdrive and diff oils have also been changed with new oil cooler.
The brakes have been refurbished and stop evenly. A brake servo is fitted.
The Mallard Green paint is generally very good however there are a few areas that ideally need polishing. But as you can see she presents very well regardless. Mallard Green is a rare but ideal colour for an MGB.
Interior trim is in good condition and carpets are all fine but not perfect. A dash mounted map reading light and map pocket are fitted. The dash itself is in very good condition.
This is a supremely reliable car that can be driven and enjoyed as-is with no work needed, although it could benefit from some cosmetics. Comes complete with two sets of keys and lots of receipts.
