DAX 427 AC Cobra Replica, 1986
V5 registered as a 1968 DAX Cobra, based on Jaguar running gear (classed as an Historic Vehicle). Tax and MoT exempt.
The whole car was professionally rebuilt in the mid/ late nineties.
Ford 351 Windsor 5. 8ltr. V8 engine dynoed at 345bhp and 401lb ft torque. Dart heads, Holley 650cfm 4-barrell carb, Holley fuel pump, MSD ignition system, Offenhauser inlet manifold. Rebuilt in 2008 by Mike Huddart.
Ford Toploader RUG AV1 gearbox with Hurst shifter, rebuilt in 2021 by Alan Jackson (Chester). Jaguar/ Salisbury type LSD, 2. 88:1.
GAZ adjustable shock absorbers.
The car has been in my ownership since 2011, during which time I have carried out extensive work and improvements, with many new parts including recent clutch/ release bearing/ roller spigot bearing/ slave cylinder, re-faced flywheel and bellhousing, uprated starter motor, gear ring, battery etc. The radiator has been re-cored, with new Samco hoses (no overheating). New rear springs, new brake master cylinder and front brake pads with reconditioned calipers and servo. Everything works as it should. The interior is in great condition and nicely patinated, and is set out as a Cobra should be. The exterior is in excellent condition, with only minor flaws.
The car comes with a hood, sidescreens (need work), tonneau cover, and large history file.
There are five spare BF Goodrich tyres (all good), a spare MSD ignition unit, and other sundry parts available by negotiation. This Cobra presents and drives well. It is reliable, fast, noisy, and fun!
I've owned the car for fourteen years, yet have only covered about 3, 500 miles. I've enjoyed driving and working on it, but have never used it enough, and it's now time to sell. I also need the garage space.
