You are looking at my unicorn UK delivery 1969 Mercedes 280S. Automatic
99, 000 genuine miles.
The car was stored for a number of years due the previous owners inability to source the correct cast iron RHD exhaust manifold.
2. 8 straight six engine. Non fuel injection. Webber carb conversion as recommended by W108 owners.
Super reliable as there's no fuel injection or Bosch D-tronic ECUs and other things to worry about of that era which were hideously complicated in this day and age to set up correctly.
I found this car in Europe. It was part of a Swiss car collection and repatriated the car back to the UK.
Its been stored in a garage and recommissioned.
It is a genuine UK delivery car as confirmed by Mercedes Benz UK.
Not a south African Import. This car was built at the Mercedes factory in Germany.
Now.
To recommission this car.
I had the following works completed (Im sure I have forgotten a lot of things but do have a excel breakdown of costs and labour from the company who did all the work. They are classic car specialists and racers so now their stuff.
Spark plugs, Leads. Points. New high capacity battery. etc.
Oil, fluids and filter changes. including. Air filter. Oil filter. Fuel filter. Gearbox flush and fill with all relevant gaskets etc.
4 x New springs fitted all round.
4 x new tyres to the correct width and profile. Atlas white side walls are included but not fitted.
Various pipework etc.
OEM cast iron exhaust manifold.
Zenith carbs were completely rebuilt at great expense but due to idling issue due to another companies incompetence in rebuilding them despite claiming they were experts on Zenith carbs,
I bought the Webber kit. To be honest. Its amazing.
Starts first time. Idles beautifully so a definitely a worthwhile upgrade recommended by all W108 owners if you read the forums.
The rebuilt Zenith carbs cost over £2000 and will be included in the sale.
You can keep them or sell them on. Your choice.
Brand new fuel tank fitted.
The LAST EVER right hand drive genuine Mercedes OEM downpipe and exhaust were fitted.
This is brand new and new old stock.
Car has been machine polished and waxed and always lives in the garage and under a car cover.
Car is shown without hub caps and number plates as it had just been washed inside and out whilst the weather is nice.
Car will come with 12 months MOT for the new owner so please feel free to come down to inspect it and test drive it to your satisfaction.

Keep it stock or air ride. This model the W108 has featured in GQ magazine. Their editor had one commissioned for GQ and I was lucky enough to meet him. Or you can go the modified route as with air ride. If you google W108 Dougie. You will see how amazing his car is.
Bad points.
Bonnet star needs to be swapped over. I have a replacement along with lots of spares.
The fact this car has no rust to deal with means, If you plan to modify it, air ride or keep it stock. Its all small jobs as you see fit,
Always buy a car with the best bodywork you can find.
You will spend a ten times what you think will chasing rust and repairs as opposed to driving it.
