Description
The Citroën Light 15, also known as the Traction Avant, was a landmark car in automotive history. It was the first mass-produced car with a monocoque body and front-wheel drive. It was assembled in Britain at Citroën's Slough plant
Front-Wheel Drive:
This was a radical departure from the rear-wheel drive that was the norm at the time.
Independent Suspension:
The front wheels had independent springing, using a torsion bar and wishbone arrangement, which was more advanced than the leaf springs and live axles of many contemporaries.
Mechanical Details:
The car featured a 1911cc four-cylinder engine, a three-speed gearbox, and a vertically mounted gear lever, a distinctive Citroën feature.
Interior:
This Slough-built Light 15s has a walnut dashboard with Jaeger instruments, leather seats and a wool headlining, all in very good condition. The car (Josephine), although not concours, is in excellent usable condition. During ownership I have attended many shows and meetings. Regretfully due to storage restrictions I am having to downsize my small collection.
