DB6 Volante - one of the most comfortable four-seater convertibles of the 1960s
With the DB4, Aston Martin had finally made a name for itself in the super sports car sector at the end of the 1950s. Not only was it one of the most beautifully designed, comfortable sports cars of its time, it was also successful on the racetrack.
From 1963, the DB5 successfully continued the unique symbiosis of Italian elegance (Carrozzeria Touring) and the flair of the English gentleman's driver. As James Bond's company car, it achieved worldwide fame and became a cult car.
To make driving more comfortable for rear-seat passengers too, the successor, the DB6, appeared just two years later. With a longer wheel-base and significantly more space, the DB6 is one of the most comfortable sports cars of its time. With only 140 examples built, the Cabriolet (Volante) is one of the most sought after open-top genuine four-seaters of the 1960s and 1970s.
The DB6 with chassis number DBVC3624 was delivered to H. W. Motors on 10 May 1967 and has been in the hands of its current owner for 15 years. The rare and sought-after Platinum Grey colour scheme, which perfectly accentuates the contours of the car, stands out. It is the original colour and the engine also has the original delivery number. Only the unloved automatic gearbox has been replaced by the 5-speed manual gearbox.
The vehicle was driven regularly and always serviced in specialised workshops. The condition is excellent. In recent years, the DB6 has been entered in numerous regularity events and Concours d'Elegance and has been the winning car several times (e. g. BCCM St. Moritz, Bensberg Classic,...).
With four full-size seats, electric soft top and power windows, a large boot, a concealed music system with Bluetooth connection and a calibrated trip master, the DB6 Volante is both an everyday vehicle and a collector's item!
