1993 FORD MONDEO 1. 8 LX HATCHBACK MARK 1
Once a common sight on our roads, now there are just 24 first year of production (1993) Ford Mondeo LX's left! Mark 1 'thin headlight' one's are so rare.
They were all rep'd to death, but not this one, it's the one in a million that was bought privately, garaged and had an easy life - The first owner kept it until 2015! It now has just 50, 100 miles and 4 owners. Even has original Ford headlight protectors! (pictured).
Being a really early Mondeo, it was built in September 1993 and registered in November of that year.
The interior is immaculate (seats, carpets, headlining & pen holder!) and everything works - Electric front windows, central locking, original radio/ cassette and tilt/ slide sunroof. Everything (inside & out) is completely standard and unmodified. It's never been smoked in and you can also tell that from the unused ashtray and cigarette lighter (pictured).
It's a pleasure to drive and surprisingly modern for a 32 year old car, but then the Mondeo was a revelation in 1993, even Jeremy Clarkson loved it! But this is a really exceptional one.
The car was serviced and cam belt changed less than 2000 miles ago. There is a receipt for these parts. Just a shame that the early history died with the first owner. It has also been wax oiled so the underneath is as solid as the top. Engine bay shows no wear as you can see from the photo.
MOT until March 2026 and it's completely advisory free.
So rare now, you'll never find another like this - The steering wheel, gear knob, handbrake and pedal rubbers all look like new to prove the mileage. The door shuts are immaculate as per the pictures. It was always garaged until I bought it a year ago to re-live my twenties! I'm only selling as my other classic is now in my garage and I won't leave it out in the winter.
Look at the original number plates, dealer sticker, key ring and wheel trims, it also comes with 2 keys and the handbook.
If I'm 100% honest, the only areas that are required to make this immaculate are (as per last pictures) -:
2 small dents in the bonnet, that can only really be seen under artificial light, could be pushed/ pulled out.
There is a tiny area on the OS rear quarter that has not been repaired that great and could do with rubbing down and blowing over, but it's tiny.
The rubber seal around the boot seems like it needs replacing.
It drives great but a new clutch would make it even better.
So, really minor things that anyone mechanically/ bodywork minded could do for a few hundred pounds. It would cost me a lot more as I'm not that way inclined, unfortunately. But if it doesn't sell, I'll have it all done and re-advertise for £5995, so grab yourself a rare, original, unmodified, ultra-low mileage classic Mondeo before it's worth £8K in any condition, as we all know how old Ford's go!First owner kept it 22 years until he passed away.
