- Rear badge.
The engine was refurbished and the carburettors rebuilt before I bought it. It starts every time and does not miss a beat. I use it on a regular basis as I would my daily drive.
All instruments work, all glass is good and the car is watertight. It is fitted with a Webasto sunroof which does not leak.
Bodywork-wise, overall, the car looks tidy and at some point in its life has had a fairly extensive restoration and respray, there is the odd bubble here and there but overall the car looks great, it will never win a concourse but is good enough to admire and polishes up well.
As you can see from the pictures, she is perfectly respectable and looks great in its original British racing green.
The underside is fully undersealed and is good and solid. I can’t see anywhere that is going to need any attention for a good few years so no nasty welding bills.
The Gearbox and clutch are good. The gearbox selects gears well and has no nasty noises, is tight and works as it should do. The differential is in good condition and has no nasty noises. The overdrive also works well and clicks in nicely at the flick of the switch.
I have lowered the vehicle to the original older MGB height for better handling. However, as part of the sale I have new front springs and rear axle U Bolts if you wanted to have it at the car’s specified height. I also have the original ‘deckchair’ seat covers which I will throw in.
All Electrics work well and the wiring is in good condition.
So overall it’s a great 47-year-old classic car with plenty of years of life left in it, ideal to use regularly and enjoy whilst fettling and fiddling with on the weekend, with no major jobs required. They are simple to work on and parts are cheap and plentiful, a great usable classic that turns heads everywhere you go. The car is MOT and TAX exempt so all you have to do is insure it and drive away. The Car’s location is in YO61 district, and I am happy for viewing by appointment.
