Very rare 1978 Volvo 245 GL Estate. Was a special Diplomat order in London, collected from the factory in Goteborg, Sweden by a flight lieutenant living in the officers mess in Germany. The car was imported into the UK in 1980 (hence the 'V' registration).
Presented in Mist Green with brown cloth interior. Ordered to Australian spec with rare optional extras such as coin tray, and child guard between the seats. It also has it's original rear compartment rubber liner.
Car has had one previous owner and there is lots of original paperwork, including the order form/ bill of sale, optional extras order form, Volvo letter of arrangement to the factory in Sweden to collect the car, Customs import forms, MOT, service history, etc etc.
There are both sets of original keys with their original key code tag.
Almost immaculate interior and the headlining is absolutely perfect. The only noticeable damage is one of the original front headrests - a replacement is included. Interior in the photos looks faded but rest assured this is just sun reflection!
Bodywork with original paint is great in some areas, with bright paintwork, rusty scabs in other lower panel areas on the vehicle. Both rear arches aren't great and will require welding (typical of this model!) Excellent rear tailgate, just one slight scab requiring a touch of paint. See images for more on the bodywork.
Sold as not running, it's an early fuel injection model - the car turns over and goes to start but floods, likely caused by an injector problem. The car does not currently have a battery however I can put one on the car temporarily for viewings, so you can hear the car turning over. The brakes need attention, one of the brake calipers is currently off of the vehicle. My regular mechanic has unfortunately retired and I'm unable to find anyone local to me to look at an early fuel injection vehicle, so have decided to sell it.
Some spares are included in the sale, including a whole rear near-side wing, brand new master cylinder and various other bits.
Definitely would recommend a viewing to judge condition for yourself. Will need to be trailered away, can arrange at buyers extra cost with a reliable local recovery guy.
