For sale is my much-loved 2005 Mazda MX-5 Arctic Edition 1. 6 in metallic silver, showing just 38, 000 miles and with 11 months MOT. The car has been fully rebuilt over the last year and is in outstanding condition – a rare find for a 20-year-old MX-5.
During my ownership, it’s been garaged and treated to an extensive restoration to tackle all the well-known rust spots these cars suffer from. The underside is immaculate, the engine bay and boot are spotless, and it drives exactly as an MX-5 should.
Work completed:
• 4 brand new tyres and new brakes all round
• Rear subframe mounts to body replaced with new rubber bushes
• Painted rear valance (behind bumper)
• Rear arches and both rear wings welded and painted
• Sills cut out, welded, and restored
• Front chassis rails, inner arches, inner wings, and front slam panel all painted – rust removed and treated
• New cambelt and water pump
• Brake and clutch master cylinders restored
• New Varta battery
• All common rust areas have been Lanoguarded for long-term protection
• Refurbished alloy wheels
• Full service carried out
Condition:
The soft-top roof is immaculate with no tears or damage. The paintwork is in great condition overall, with only minor cosmetic marks expected for its age – a small blemish on the left door from a previous dent, a few small imperfections on the bonnet, and light marks in places from weekend use.
Things to note:
There is no previous service history from before my ownership (it wasn’t provided by the previous owner), but the extensive restoration work should give peace of mind to the next owner. The left door mark could be remedied with a replacement if desired.
