For Sale: 1970 MK2 MG BGT.
A reluctant sale of my beloved BGT. I’ve owned it for approaching 5-years and I’m only selling as a new purchase means I no longer have the garage space.
It’s a 1970 on a ‘J’ (fish mouth grille).
Exterior:
The car was restored in the 90’s and still looks pretty good. It’s certainly no show car, and does have signs of age, but overall, it looks fantastic.
It’s painted on tartan red, one of the best colours for the B. The paint has held up well for its age, but will need detailing to remove some small water marks on one of the wings and roof.
The chrome is in decent condition and shows little sign of patina.
All the expensive bits (sills, castle rail ect..) are solid. It has developed a tad bit of bubbling on the scuttle and on one of the wheel arches, but nothing you wouldn’t expect on a 55-year-old car.
The wire wheels and tyres were brand new only a year ago and are mint (inc spare wheel).
Interior:
I swapped out the interior with red leather seats from a MK1 B and retrimmed the door cards and interior in tan vinyl. The vinyl is looking a little tired after 5-years and the seats, being 60-years-old, are a little torn.
The steering wheel is also from an earlier car.
Other upgrades include a cigarette lighter for charging a phone and an I-pad for sat nav.
Mechanical:
Mechanically, it’s all original and has not one let me down once in 5-years ownership.
It comes with reams and reams of history detailing the small fortune that previous owners have spent over the years. The speedo isn't currently working, (I use a digital one). A new one can be picked up for very little money.
It starts and stops exactly as it should, keeps cool and has given many miles of trouble free motoring.
