1933 Frazer Nash TT replica for sale. (1935 V5 registered)
CHX 846 is a 1933 / 1934 Alpine Trial car as used by HJ Aldington. It successfully campaigned the ’33 Alpine in its original guise as MV3742 and the ’34 event as that car but bearing the registration number MV2303 (in typical works style to avoid tax) and wore that famous chassis plate which it still has today. It started life as chassis 2065, the famous works racer, MV3742. It completed the 1933 Alpine trial with Aldington and Neil Barry and won the famous Coupe Des Glaciers being the only un-super charged car to lose zero points. It competed in the 1933 Monte Carlo rally and finished 26th. Miss Cynthia Sedgwick used the car prolifically and broke the 1933 Shelsley ladies record in supercharged form with a time of 48 seconds. The car was then driven by Aldington in the 1934 Easter Brooklands meeting. When originally built by the works it had a No8 Powerplus blower and Laystall crank. After its time as a works racer, it was then re-registered by Frazer Nash in the then usual tax – insurance ruse in late 1953 with registration no CHX846 and given chasis no 2160. It was fitted with Shelsley brakes which it still wears today and was painted black and gold. It was sold to prolific racer Marshall in June 1937 and eventually ended up in the hands of a long standing Frazer Nash car club member at the end of the 1960’s.
After staying with that member for over 50 years, the car was purchased by a vintage rally enthusiast who instigated an extensive recommissioning of the car to include a new Blakeney Motor Sport 120 hp Meadows 4ED engine. (Original engine also included in sale) The car was purchased by the current owner in November 2023. A lovely car to look at and drive.
