Description
1972 MG Midget – Beautifully Restored, Low Mileage, Exceptional History
Offered for sale is this charming MG Midget (first registered 1st January 1973), a desirable round wheel arch model presented in its original and highly attractive Harvest Beige, perfectly complemented by Rostyle wheels and a dark blue interior.
Showing just 63, 238 miles, this car is supported by an outstanding history file, including MOT certificates dating all the way back to 1980—providing real confidence in its provenance and care over the years. I have owned this car since 2020 and I know the previous owners dating back to 1993. It has had 8 owners in total over its 53 year life.
In 2021, the car underwent a bare metal respray by a highly respected classic car specialist, with photographic documentation to support the work and bills totalling around £12K. At the same time, it benefited from new carpets and a new hood, both of which remain in excellent condition. The hood fits beautifully, while the car retains its original seats and interior vinyl, preserving its authentic character.
The original Rostyle wheels have been professionally refurbished, and importantly, the car still wears its original chrome bumpers. These have been sympathetically cleaned rather than replaced, maintaining originality—there is only light pitting on the chrome, which in no way detracts from the car’s superb overall appearance.
Mechanically, everything works exactly as it should, and the car is an absolute joy to drive—light, responsive, and full of classic British character. It really does bring a smile to your face.
The only non-standard upgrades are a Moss stainless steel sports exhaust and a K&N air filter, both enhancing performance and sound. Pleasingly, the original exhaust and air filter are included in the sale for those wishing to return the car to factory specification.
Underneath, the car is impressively clean and completely sound, reflecting the level of care it has received.
This is a wonderful, usable classic that is ready to be enjoyed immediately—whether that’s sunny weekend drives or attending classic car shows, where it would feel right at home.
A truly lovely example that combines originality, careful restoration, and driving enjoyment.
