Description
Originally a Crewe demonstrator/ test car, sold then to Chester Council for use by the Lord Mayor from 1976.
There is a wealth of documentation from the cars official duties, including fastidious service records where the car was kept in ‘as new’ standard for the duration. It has the genuine LWB handbook, reams of service history, original correspondence between Crewe and Chester Council, newspaper articles from its official duties (such as the above photo) and the build sheets of course.
MLG 952P clocked up almost 100, 000 miles with its civic duties before it was eventually sold off to a local hotel. It saw little use there ferrying guests about before being laid up (possibly due to issues with the distributor that I am still working on when I can).
It has been off the road since 1987 and now requires a comprehensive restoration/ rejuvenation as would be expected. It is not rotten but does have rust that would need sorting on the drivers front wing, n/ s rear valence etc.
The engine turns freely and is hoped to be running soon. My mechanic is booked up with many other things (some also from me...!) but I now have all the new parts for the distibutor.
Naturally a full hydraulic overhaul would be necessary by the new owner.
Being fussy, 2 of the hubcaps are wrong, one has the wrong colour embellisher and one is an early unvented type. Paintwork has reacted between the aluminium boot and steel body so would need paintwork. Rear seat has some of the stitching pulling away but the leather is all intact fine. As above, the car was originally a Crewe Demonstrator and then went onto official duties as the Mayoral Car for Chester.
Following that it went to a hotel and then was laid up in the late 80's. I have had the car for a few years now and, owning another Silver Shadow and Bentley, just don't have the time for this one.
It comes with an absolute wealth of paperwork, and the proper LWB Shadow Handbook.
