Description
1990 Mini RSP in British Racing Green with a white roof.
For those that don't know, the RSP was the re-birth of the Mini Cooper. At the time, Rover was not making any Coopers, and the RSP (Rover Special Project) was the first Mini Cooper manufactured in 21 years. It was limited to 1650 cars, of which 1050 remained in the UK.
I purchased this car in 2016 with the aim of taking it on the Italian Job charity event to Italy in 2017. Unfortunately it turned out to be in too poor a condition. I ended up buying my Cooper Sport LE (also for sale on here) which I took to Italy. I hadn't given up on the RSP though, and it was treated to a full nut and bolt restoration in which no expense was spared.
The restoration was finished in 2019, and it passed its MOT on 23 August 2019 with the only advisory being on the tyres, which were subsequently all replaced. Since then it has covered just 526 miles up until its MOT in August this year.
As you might imagine given the limited use, its still box fresh from its restoration. The car does have some non standard parts fitted - dashboard, steering wheel, and engine bay - we do have the original RSP red steering wheel, although it needs reconditioning.
The engine isn't standard, it has been tweaked a bit from what I can tell, but the previous owner didn't seem too sure on it, it was likely done before he acquired it.
I'm now in the process of relocating to Portugal, and due to their import laws, I can't take this Mini with me, hence the reason for sale.
Now for sale for less than what the restoration cost, not factoring in the cost of buying the car initially.
