1961 Ford Consul Classic LHD
We recently took this rare Consul Classic in part exchange and are selling it as a running project.
The car was imported from France in 2020 when it underwent amateur restoration.
Being from France the car had survived structurally well but the paint work was in need of work so the previous owner decided to paint the car. The underside is in fantastic condition with no rust to worry about and it is nicely detailed. The body does need a bit of work , it’s not rotten but the paint does need a good flat and polish .
The interior looks to be original and in very good order , there is a small tear in the drivers seat but over all still very nice.
Mechanically the car is good , it’s had an alternator conversion and a new starter motor recently.
Pull the choke out , turn the key and it fires in to life with a nice quiet even idle.
On the move the car drives great , being left hand drive isn’t an issue , it’s an easy car to drive and with great visibility easy to position on the road , even the 4 speed column change is a doddle to use.
It’s a great looking car and you’re unlikely to see many any the classic car events.
Over all I’d say it’s a 7/ 10 car , it need a few small jobs doing like the washers don’t currently work , it could do with the correct mirrors fitting and the paint work need refining but I see this as the perfect winter project , it doesn’t need any of hard work it just needs some fettling , the best thing is the jobs it need doing won’t stop you driving it .
