1978 FORD ESCORT RS2000
I purchased this restoration project as a show case of my businesses bodyshop. The car was bought in the UK from Kevin Vaites, a pretty well known guy in the RS fraternity, who had imported the car from South Africa. The chassis number does indicate the car was built in the UK and shipped to South Africa.
The car has been worked on over a number of years, to bring the body to the perfect condition you see now. It stands in our showroom as a testament to the work carried out by our painter/ fabricators.
Due to many ongoing projects the car is sitting needing to be finished and it is time to let someone take the project to completion.
We strongly suspect the engine and gearbox, although the engine is an original 2. 0 Pinto, may not be the originals. It has undergone full refurb and test by a local engine specialist. The seats have been completely restored using period fabrics by a local specialist, costing many thousands. The rest of the interior is present but may need replacing if an A1 finish is desired.
The engine will require carburettors, radiator and exhaust but as far as we can tell everything else is present to finish the car. All brakes and suspension have been replaced or refurbished so this could easily be a project for a hobby mechanic or experienced person looking for a cheap RS2000.
The car will need registering in the UK, we have the relevant documentation for import present with the car as well as confirmation of build date from Ford to facilitate this.
The car is available to view in our showroom in Cambridgeshire by appointment.
