The Jaguar E-Type remains one of the most admired cars of all time, once famously described by Enzo Ferrari as the “most beautiful car in the world.” Produced over three series across 15 years, the Series II introduced a number of key changes driven by safety and market demands.
These included the deletion of glass headlamp covers, a wrap-around rear bumper, repositioned tail lights beneath the bumper, a wider grille, larger indicators, and the adoption of twin electric fans for better cooling.
These refinements make the Series II instantly recognisable and increasingly desirable among collectors. The accompanying documentation for this E-Type is comprehensive.
Included in the file are countless invoices, parts lists, an original Jaguar E-Type workshop manual and MOT certificates dating back to 1983 (showing 7, 314 miles at that time) which leads us to believe the current mileage may be correct, however, we cannot fully warrant this.
A full engine and gearbox rebuild was carried out in 1987 by Mauina Garage of Boscombe, Bournemouth, who also fitted larger brake calipers and electronic ignition for improved performance and reliability.
In 2000, the car benefitted from a full bare-metal respray, still presenting well today. However there is some bubbles visible bottom of the doors & drivers side door has small dent.
Having covered only 900 miles since 1997 and stored for the past 20+ years in a heated garage, the car remains mechanically sound and runs and drivers.
While the bodywork and paint remain in good condition, age-related signs include light wear to the interior and a crack in the rear window. ( Available to buy E-bay for £200 )
With its low ownership, matching numbers and long-term custodianship, this Series II 2+2 offers a rare opportunity to acquire an authentic example of Britain’s most celebrated sports car. Car runs and drives no problem , however I would suggest will need going through before going in public roads just to make sure , as car was in dry storage number of years.
