Description
This Porsche 911 2. 7 RS Evocation is a head-turning tribute to one of the marque's most coveted homologation specials, based on a UK-market 912.
I've popped a full list of specs below- as the work that's been done to the car is beyond extensive- but in summary, this is an excellent, immaculate, useable, affordable 2. 7RS evocation, which needs for nothing, and has been created by experts, and pampered by its owner. The chap that I purchased it from was the president of the Honda NSX Owners Club, so- as you can imagine- he liked things done to a very high standard, and not only had the car serviced much more regularly than scheduled, but he also had every bush, rubber, line etc replaced, such that now that car is quiet and smooth with none of that old car rattle and squeak, or any tell-tale whiffs of leaking fluids. If you've ever spent time in a classic car, you'll know how it's little things like this that can transform the enjoyment of a car day to day.
During my ownership, the car has continued to be fully serviced and maintained- including new plugs, fluids, filters and brake fluid- plus I've spent a small fortune on having genuine Porsche headlining (in black) fitted, a Momo Prototipo steering wheel (original bat-wing style included in the sale), genuine red Porsche seat belts and an invisible, beneath the dash blue-tooth stereo installed.
This is a brilliant example, and the engine pulls strongly, and the ridiculously expensive Rennline shifter makes the drive so much more involving and precise.
Under the engine lid is a US-specification 2. 7-litre 'S' air-cooled flat-six supplied and fitted by Independent Porsche specialist D9 Autotech in Bridgend, driving the rear wheels through a five speed manual transmission, with shifting taken care of by the frighteningly expensive Rennline after market shifter.
This 912 was first registered in June 1969, and was owned by the chap prior to me for nearly 4 years. The massive 8-inch thick history files shows that the car was modified in the early 1990s by a retired Porsche mechanic using parts sourced from Autofarm. It was finished in 1997, and was used daily until 2000, when a top-end rebuild was completed by Autostrasse. There are photos documenting every step of the cars life.
Bodywork specialist S. P. Dunmow prepared the shell, fitted new sills, repaired the front and rear inner wings, and fitted new outer rear wings in 1991. The outer body seams were lead -loaded and painted in primer, before the entire car was resprayed in official 2. 7 RS colour 'Bahia Red' by JS Bodyworks.
The car absolutely glows in Bahia Red (it's a bit like Guards Red, with a touch of orange in the flesh, though in the photos it just looks red) with black 'Carrera' decals, over a black vinyl and fabric-trimmed Recaro interior with red door pulls in the RS style and all new gauges which all function and are calibrated perfectly, all purchased from the always eye-wateringly pricey Design 911.
The car rides on a set of genuine 16-inch Fuchs wheels finished in black and silver, wrapped in Kumho Ecsta HS51 tyres, which were fitted in 2024.
Equipment includes a lightweight ducktail spoiler, a Rennsport shift-shifter (which was more expensive than my first five cars combined), Recaro seats, and Bilstein B8 shock absorbers. The car will be supplied with its V5, a photographic record of the conversion, the original gear lever, the bat-wing style steering wheel, loads of spare parts, an old-style Porsche F service book, and a collection of invoices from Autofarm, Autostrasse, Lancaster Porsche, and S. P. Dunmow bodywork specialists.
Servicing:
I've just listed the stuff in recent years. If you'd like to look through the thousands of prior invoices whilst you look at the car, you'd be most welcome.
The engine oil, oil filter, brake pads, gear shift gaiter, torsion bar spring plates, crankcase washers/ O-rings, washer pump, and the offside driveshaft inner and outer CV boots were replaced in February 2023 by Ellison Automotive.
In May 2025 at an indicated 25, 442 miles, Brookfield Garage replaced the fuel pipe and air box, and tuned the engine to resolve an idle issue.
This 912 was further serviced in June 2025 at an indicated 25, 115 miles, when TOMDA changed the engine oil and filter, tuned the engine, retrimmed the dashboard centre, rebuilt the pedal box, replaced the kicker plate, and balanced and aligned the wheels.
It was then serviced again in October 2025 in readiness for me selling it. This included all filters, fluids, plugs and also the brake fluid.
If you'd like to know more about the car, or need anything further from me, please don't hesitate to get in touch. I'm afraid I've no interest in part-ex's of any kind- although I'm sure what you have is lovely- so please don't ask. The car is located in a heated and dehumidified Porsche shrine/ garage about 20 mins outside of Norwich.
Many thanks for reading this far.
Matt.
An incredible car, it just needs you to take it to incredible places.
