Saffron Yellow Triumph Stag built 1971. With original V8 3 litre engine and ZF 4 Speed Auto gearbox. A solid, sorted and cherished Stag, that looks fabulous and is a pleasure to drive, especially with the ZF4 speed automatic gearbox upgrade. It has a good engine which sounds great, runs cool and has good oil pressure. The car has been maintained and improved regardless of cost from top to bottom. A full maintenance history is below.
In 2013 when I purchased the vehicle, the mileage was 36, 000 and for the last 13 years the car has always been garaged, and rarely driven on wet roads, thereby maintaining the underbody condition. Oil and filter changes done annually; other service items as required. The chassis is solid and paintwork is good with straight sharp bodylines and no significant rust. The bumpers and chrome-works are generally good and shiny but the front bumper has a little fine surface pitting, visible close up. The ZF gearbox conversion transforms the driving experience into the refined tourer it was intended to be. Cars with the improvement rarely come to market.
The car comes with a ‘Boscreen’ wind deflector, 4 good tyres, radio / CD player, a spare wheel, tools and spares, alarm and immobiliser, two sets of keys, the original Triumph owner’s manual, a Triumph workshop manual and other servicing information.
