Description
Rolls-Royce, with the Camargue in 1975, took a bold step by transferring Italian car design from Pininfarina onto a luxury coupé – the first externally designed standard Rolls-Royce since the war. The result was then the most expensive production car in the world. Only 530 units were produced over eleven years of production. A classic and a collector’s car from the start.
In the Camargue, all improvements from the “volume models” were incorporated – so this car also already had the improved steering from the Silver Shadow II. The Camargues were built with a lot of hand craftsmanship, and at that time it took about three months to complete a vehicle. Parts of the body were handmade and the full interior with the use of over 40 square metres of premium leather required its time. Everything is very lovingly made.
The blue paint in “Seychelles Blue” contrasts very nicely with the light Nuella leather in “Magnolia”.
Our car is right-hand drive and was ordered in 1981 and set on its way. It was registered in England in June 1982. In Germany, this vehicle would have cost over 400, 000 marks new at the time.
The current owner bought the Camargue in summer 2012 from a dealer in England and has driven it around 6, 000 kilometres since then. In these 14 years, he has invested around €40, 000 in the car. Corresponding invoices are available. Notably, a major service was carried out, but the brakes and the suspension were also overhauled. There is therefore no maintenance backlog. A service book, fully stamped up to 2012, also exists.
The interior is also presented in a nice condition with only minor signs of use.
The car has a total mileage of 116, 600 kilometres.
A 2023 valuation report amounting to €69, 000 and the condition rating “2” are on file.
The owner is selling this beautiful car for age-related reasons and due to downsizing his collection.
