1965 Land Rover Series 2a (88) - 2. 25L Petrol - 7 seats - soft top - 4 gears + overdrive.
In great original condition and patina, respectfully restored, well maintained and ready for immediate enjoyment.
Original chassis and some examples of work carried out: refurbished differential & drive train, new brakes, new suspension, 5 new Avon tyres, new hood (original available), new seats, etc. (all receipts available on request).
The original hood and various other original items are available.
- Registration & Shipment:
The car is currently registered as ‘Voiture de Collection’ in France. Our Classic Land Rover Specialist is very experienced with registration, export and shipment of Classic Land Rovers all over the world, so no problem to assist with this if required.

- 1965 - 1986 (1st owner).
This Series 2A was manufactured in April 1965 and supplied by Land Rover UK later that year to the Swiss Army as part of a fleet order of new vehicles. It was first registered in Switzerland on the 1st February 1966.
- 1986 - 2022 (2nd owner).
After 20 years of service, the Swiss Army sold the car to a Farmer in Switzerland late 1986, who became the 2nd registered owner. He kept the car in great condition and completely original for the next 35 years.
As we understood the car was mainly used during his retirement to drive homemade ‘Schnapps’ to the local Farmer’s Market.
- 2022 - present (3rd owner).
Early 2022 the car was sold to a local Car dealer in Vevey, Switzerland, who sold it to a Classic Land Rover Specialist in the Netherlands. In November 2022, the car was purchased by us and we became its 3rd registered owner.
We continued to preserve and respect the car’s history, provenance & original features during restoration.
We use our classic Land Rovers for events, day trips and touring in the local area.
Significant restoration work & updates:
- Extensive restoration work started in Dec 2022 and was completed in May 2023.
- After completing the restoration, we imported the car to France.
- Additional work on the gearbox & overdrive specifically, has been carried out by a renowned Classic Land Rover specialist, who also takes care of the ongoing maintenance and winter storage.
We decided to sell our Series 2A, since we need more space for our dogs on longer trips and therefore require a larger Classic Land Rover to suit our current lifestyle - a 1984 Defender 'One Ten', which is being restored at the moment.
